    welcome to the hole

Once upon a time, I kept a LiveJournal account, gryphons_hole, a deep, dark, comfy little hole in my brain where I kept notes on my life and queerness.

This is the archive to that account, mostly password protected, adult, queer content, stripped of photo content after the site restructured its photo hosting feature. I hope to restore that content as well.

If I know you, ask for the password. If I don’t, hope for a generous mood.

08.18.24 I have realized a need to continue in this space. A kink reawaking if you will, with content that may range into inappropriate for my other blog spaces.

  • green everything thursday

Q: How does a green shirt help you find the gays…?

A: When worn with a green ascot, Sweetie!

  • the emptying nest

<lj-user: kumazuki> is already at his meeting in Topeka, Kansas. It is always excellent to have him here.

The brief but lovely visit from <lj-user: musicbearmn> has passed as well. Back to myself in the studio, not that I mind, but having people in the space with me this weekend was wholly enjoyable.

  • what a splendid evening

I spend the afternoon with the art crowd. Drinks were had. Mostly delicious spiced rum and cola.

<kumazuki> arrived much earlier than expected, which was grand with me. We contacted both halves of <furrcrazed> and they joined us for an evening in the studio. Drinks were had: many different oddball drinks, among the favorites was ginger brandy and ginger ale. Yum! Saffron infused gin was also on the list, but the tonic was too strong of a match; I will have to continue experiementing with that one… but such a beautiful color.

And a holiday gift exchange was made. Andy and Alan were incredibly kind, a couple lovely ties, some sweater clips and cuff links, and a very special to be announced gift. I need a photoshoot for that one…

Even without the best organization, it was great having folks over to the studio. I get a repeat tonight when <musicbearmn> arrives. Yay!

  • everyday style – the arctic tundra edition

For temperatures ranging between 5 and 20 degrees Fahrenheit, it doesn’t seem too terribly cold to me, but then I am a transplanted desert rat and I bundle up anytime below 70 degrees…

This is a version of my everyday errand-running look. When timeliness is more important that the perfect knot in my neckwear. It is also one of many developing trends for managing the most difficult measurement of clothing for me: short sleeve length. Thrifting for my wardrobe have proven this to be the most difficult aspect of clothing for me. I wear a sleeve length of 36/37. Most off-the-rack stuff stops at 34/35. The same goes with jackets and coats. I have had good forunate with sportcoat of a proper sleeve length, but I have been working through solutions about overcoats…

This is one option: I wear the jacket or coat with something of long sleeves underneath. To me, it results in a similar but overstated form of the shirt cuff peaking out from a suit jacket. Here, the over sized cotton sweater oozes out everywhere. I lvoe the sweater; it has proven to be hugely versatile. It is one of those can’t-live-without wardrobe items. If I had to take my wardrobe down to fifty pieces (*gasp*) it would easily be in my top ten.

The ragwool hat and scarf are my favorite everyday choice, although I have a growing pile of scarves and mufflers from which to choose when dressing it up for a night. I have rag-wool gloves as well, but here I wanted contrast against the sweater cuffs…

Stay warm and look fabulous doing it!

  • sadness

So, in my bad habit of not keeping up when I travel, I have missed the news of a great man passing.

I only met <lj user=danbearnyc> face-to-face once, but he filled my world with deliciously queer events. He sent me the best links on a regular basis. He sent clippings and articles and notes about the best fashion events and options he found.

    Dammit.

I just want to curl up in a ball and wail.

My world has become dimmer; the queerness of the world has just become more grey.
Travel swiftly, Mother. I shall miss you immensely…
