welcome to the hole

Once upon a time, I kept a LiveJournal account, gryphons_hole, a deep, dark, comfy little hole in my brain where I kept notes on my life and queerness.
This is the archive to that account, mostly password protected, adult, queer content, stripped of photo content after the site restructured its photo hosting feature. I hope to restore that content as well.
If I know you, ask for the password. If I don’t, hope for a generous mood.
08.18.24 I have realized a need to continue in this space. A kink reawaking if you will, with content that may range into inappropriate for my other blog spaces.

Yesterday saved the Halloween spirit. Until the early hours of Saturday morning, I had no notable interest in Halloween this year. I don’t much care for the loss of interest in the holidays; in the past, it has never marked enjoyable things…
Fortunately, I whipped out something nice. I pulled out the best propr/headdress I have made to date and went from there. The frame was in excellent condition, but the dressing was ratty, so I stripped it down and redressed it…
And I should say that I forgot to put my mask back on for the photos. It is a basic synthetic masquerade mask that I covered with leather and studded. It has served me well over the years.
The cloak was made yesterday. I had some problems, starting with not enough lining fabric. It is very unfinished in my eyes, but it served its purpose well enough. I also have this bothersome drive to make over-sized cloaks… It was fun and served an effect, but it was massive and unfinished enough that it had no clasp or pin… Still I had fun with my friends.
And, yes, I used the line…
*cue Carol Burnett voice*
“I saw it in the window and just had to have it…!

Of course, then there was everybody else; the people at the party that I didn’t know…
“Who are you supposed to be…?” “Who…?” “Who’s that…? Never heard of him.”
“What?” “I don’t get it…”

And, well, I would rather not get into the costume elaborations of the folks asking such questions.
Really, I should issue an annual apology each Halloween for not dressing up as a celebrity or popular movie/TV/fictional character. It confuses so many people. It also drives me to want to build a Masquerade Ball, which encourages fanciful gowns and outfits and masques… Then I realize how many zombies would show up… -

photo challenge – energy
I finally plugged in my new Brother sewing machine this morning. I have had it for over two years now…

Yes, it is hard to see from this angle, but that is a limited edition Project Runway Brother sewing machine. Yes, bitches, I am that gay…
I have started work on my cloak project. When done, it should be a rather full, full-length cloak, with hood and shoulder cloak. And the entire thing will be made out of silk neckties..
Yes, yes, I know… Once again, I am that gay…

I have begun a little side project that has been brewing for a bit in my head…
due to the grab bag feature of a local thrift store, my hunt for pocket squares leaves me with lots of ladies’ silk scarves. I have decided to shred the ones that don’t speak to me as scarves and braid them into an as yet undetermined yardage of silk cording…

mostly for potential various nefarious uses…
muwah. muwahaha. muwaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa…
At most, it will be vicious and wicked; at least, it will be a festive party favor… ;P -
