I know that many many folks around here do the whole black-eyed peas thing for New Year’s…
I never even heard of that until I moved out to Arizona.
I am from Cleveland, I never even say black-eyed peas until I was an adult. Our family’s New Year’s meal was pork and sauerkraut. Every year, all day long, my mother would cook a pork roast in sauerkraut, later adding polish sausage and hot dogs… by the time we ate, the pork just melted away in my mouth. Yummy!
So last night before hitting the sack, I fired up the crock-pot. I didn’t have a pork roast, but I took a couple pork steaks from the freezer and added the kraut. This morning I added some polish sausage.
Such a yummy lunch!
I may add more to the pot later today, so I can have left-overs all week long…
