welcome to the hole

Once upon a time, I kept a LiveJournal account, gryphons_hole, a deep, dark, comfy little hole in my brain where I kept notes on my life and queerness.
This is the archive to that account, mostly password protected, adult, queer content, stripped of photo content after the site restructured its photo hosting feature. I hope to restore that content as well.
If I know you, ask for the password. If I don’t, hope for a generous mood.
08.18.24 I have realized a need to continue in this space. A kink reawaking if you will, with content that may range into inappropriate for my other blog spaces.

Why I
Really not a spoiler,
For many many years, I have been irritated in the last five mintues of most movies i paid to see in theaters, mostly because for various reasons they use those last few minutes to completely undo everything they struggle for two plus hours to get me to believe.
What the hell? Sometimes, they do it becuase it is the flat and easy way to but spin on a predictable ending, but anyone can add spit by cheating an the rules of they created reality. This is a sing of poor skills in story-telling. Sometimes, they do it to ensure a sequel franchise. Lame. Sometimes, they just do it because they think they need to do so…
1408 bought my heart forever in the last scene. Unlike most of its contemporaries, 1408 not only commited to its entire story for the audience, it offered proof of its reality to a satellite character that had witnessed none of said reality during the movie. They offered a strong commitment in a world of easy bets and failed relationships. They offered a sure thing. Yes, this happened. No, we will not take it away from you after you invested time in money to hear the story.
Brilliant.
Yes, I know it can be a complicated topic to say that a movie has higher responsiblities than merely entertain. 1408 rose to the challenge and reaffirmed my floundering faith in movies. Very likely it did so only to have it crushed hopelessly later this summer by some lame-ass summer three-quel, but at least I had the momentary joy of feeling affirmed.
Oh! And it also gave me the opportunity to be part of an iconic experience like Moviebears. Well, yes, I know technically it was the Scarebears…
