welcome to the hole

Once upon a time, I kept a LiveJournal account, gryphons_hole, a deep, dark, comfy little hole in my brain where I kept notes on my life and queerness.
This is the archive to that account, mostly password protected, adult, queer content, stripped of photo content after the site restructured its photo hosting feature. I hope to restore that content as well.
If I know you, ask for the password. If I don’t, hope for a generous mood.
08.18.24 I have realized a need to continue in this space. A kink reawaking if you will, with content that may range into inappropriate for my other blog spaces.

changes…
Generally, I see myself changing in little steps, growing in evolving, every day of my life. I can see it, so often I see myself as unchanging because the change stays so steady and constant. Like the change is a regular part of my constancy…
But then I have moments, like when I walk away from a project or even a particular skill set for a while. It may be important to say that I learn across the board, meaning that any single thing I learn while using one skill set is stored and applied to each other skill set I have developed. Along these lines, sometimes when I take a break from a hobby, I am surprised to see how much my approach to it has changes, mostly since I haven’t been seeing it evolve in the day-to-day.
Sewing.
OMGs, how I hated hand sewing.
Back in my college days, I made lots of Halloween costumes. Lots. One year, we did a group costume for fifteen people. I made them all. We won a trophy…
But every bit of those costumes were done on my mother’s industrial machines: straight stitcher, surger, tacker, pleater…
IF it needed a fastener…? Oh, look! A roll of Velcro….
No Buttons!
In fact, I have yet to ever use the buttonhole settings on my machine, since that meant I would eventually have to hand sew a button onto the other side of the garment.
Forward to now.
Yesterday, I hand-stitched the lace cuffs from this photo onto the jacket sleeves. I wanted it permanent since the cuffs kept sliding around during the shoot…

Today, I finished trimming another jacket with rabbits fur on the cuffs and collar. Very sweet, only the herringbone jacket – with the excellent exterior pockets – has a crappy lining that is well-deteriorated… So now, I am underway in the effort to reline it with a lining from a jacket I picked up just for the lining. Since the jacket is already construction, I will have to hand-stitch the entire lining.
When did I become this person…?
I even jabbed the back end of the needle a quarter inch into my fingertip and didn’t even flinch!
Fearless me! Grrrr.Back to stitching…
Photos when it’s done.
