the single cuff conversion project

I have begun a new sartorial project in the second bedroom dressing room. I have decided that I need more opportunity to wear cufflinks. French cuffs are so formal, so few and far between in the thrift stores, and they are most likely to be the shirts that require a trip to the professional laundry to look presentable…

So, I started converting my single cuff dress shirts to allow for cufflinks. I do not intend to wear them in the manner that one would on a French cuff shirt, but more like a button stud; overlapping the cuff on the wrist, not pulling them out back-to-back…
Originally, I intended to replace the tightest set button on the cuff and allow for the option of button or link closure, but some cuffs are not fully covering the button when the link is in place, and I don’t care for that…

So, I plan to move onward without replacing the buttons. I have the option of sewing the cuff buttons together in pairs, similar to cufflinks, that I can use to mimic the button closure, so I do haven an alternative, in case I don’t own a good link choice for a shirt… like that could happen…

This is the first time I have made a buttonhole. Ever. And the first time in years that I opened the manual for my Brother computerized machine. I should note, in cased you missed it, I am so gay, that my Brother machine is a Project Runway Special Edition computerized sewing machine.
