I hope you have your ears on…
So, I made a loop of the DAVs this morning; two DAV locations and one of the new Red Racks, the new branding identity for the DAV…
The first stop was the southern most DAV, down by my chiropractor’s office. That spot has been putting out the neckties for the sale tags these days, with little signs of stopping… I should say, I sort through a particular process for myself, by Kuma does all sorts of things with them, so he will take anything on which he can get his hands.
Today? At that one stop, I got twenty-five dollars worth of five for a buck ties. And many, many of them were the sorts I look to land for myself.
For what do I look in a necktie…? Well, has had some impact on these criteria. He and I had a conversation once, I believe right here on LJ, about what he looks for in neckwear. He mentioned that he only deals with woven patterns. The idea has been sinking in ever since. It makes good sense, seeing that a printing pattern, once snagged, shows the flaw across the whole of the pattern; the woven pattern may only loose a small dot or detail, while the remainder of the pattern stays intact.
Beyond that, there are a handful of printed pattern ties I will still bring home, bearing in mind that for the most part I only pay a quarter for them. I make the exception on two points. First, certain labels; I imagien that better labels have silk that is woven better. As I see it, the tighter the weave the less chance of snagging. Second, color palette; if I find a tie in a great color scheme or in a color range I do not have much else in on the rack, I will scoop it up and use it as a place holder of sorts until a better tie in that range surfaces…
So, yeah… I think I added about thirty ties to the mix this morning…
And here I thought I had everything selected for summer camp.
Silly Gryphon!
