prim and proper

I guess I am feeling better than I realized. As it turns out, there was a birthday party to attend last night. And I am still getting used to being able to do stuff on Friday nights… Anyway, the party was on the other side of my floor, about twenty paces away, best kinda just-want-to-socialize-for-a-bit opportunity there is. A bit stretched for a long while. I shouldn’t be surprised at feeling socially repressed after three years on evening shift…

Anyway, I hit up Brooks Brothers’ how-to site and brushed up on bow tie tying…

At work, we have created an expression for when a set-up is so right-on that it needs little to no adjustment, which is rare…

First book out.

This is the first bow out. I haven’t tied a bow tie since my sister’s wedding some twenty years ago. I would attribute the successful to the how-to page. I do like that site.

Oh! And I think that the braces drive the look home to stay, even if they were a hidden detail for most of the night. I thrive on that sort of thing.

I must confess: I have been hiding an obsession about sweater vests. I know! I feel I should be ashamed simply because the first five months of searching at the DAV yielded nothing but acrylic… *gasp* I thought that should maybe be telling me something. I mean, my gay gene gets hives just thinking about acrylic…

*shudder*

But the Magic Portal™ has opened and borne fruit, and the sweater vests have been gathering in my studio. I have only now gotten around to wearing any. Perhaps I was waiting for the bow ties… I think the final step was seeing Michael Emerson‘s character make his Machiavellian maneuvers towards the alternate-world principal-ship in a bow tie/vest combo in the most recent episode of Lost. As much as I want to not like the character for his scheming, his costumer nailed the look in this episode. Hot in a way that so few ever want to admit to finding hot.

I like that kind of thing.

Oh! And the final shots are for all the nay-sayers in attendence at the party! OMGosh! Like no one at all today could actually be able to tie a bowtie on his own… As if I would choose a clip-on.

*gasp*

*smooch*
