sunday style – special-fat-tuesday edition

Happiest of Fat Tuesdays!

There is an employee relations team at work. They are basically a morale boosting group. They have been hosting bake sales and such to raise money for things like employee lunches and holiday parties that have been cut out of the operating budget over the last year. They do a decent job.

That brings me to this morning. There is a Fat Tuesday costume contest. There is cash involved; a modest amount, but cash none the less.
I submit for your enjoyment:

There isn’t really anything new here; just a new combination of some pieces and bits. The Mad-Hatter’s hat from Halloween is no more. As it turns out, I am short on feathers laying about. LOL I spoke to my lead about changing into costume half-way through the day, as it is unsafe for me to wear long sleeves at work; he’s good with it. He is also a member of the team…

With this costume, I have fully realized the ridiculous nature of this jacket. It is fun, but it is a costume. It fits very poorly; some David Byrne wanna-be that is poorly fit in the shoulders. I think I shall hold on to it for future costuming purposes, but it will fall out of rotation for regular attire. It may get salvaged for materials, assuming I ever get to making my own vests… The faux fur collar will be re-purposed to another jacket or coat. I already have a few in mind.

The mask has been around for Halloween and Mardi Gras costumes – in some form or another – for about a decade now. It started as a basic, cheap masquerade mask. I covered it in leather and studded it the first time out… Various things have been attached to it over the years. Since this photos last night, I have added more feathers, filling the voids across the brow.

The beads are a collection from various bar, pride and bear events over the years. Eventually, everything has a Mardi Gras theme. They add up. Yes, I did some things for them, but – really – I do those things with or without beads on the line. LOL Just sayin’…

It just isn’t in me to do all those crazy-bright colors. Sure, the beads, but beyond that, I went with black and white. Well, really black and cream. It makes a good back drop for the beads; kinda like a formal masquerade feel to it all. I will be incredibly over dressed at work… I typically go out of my way there to look like them.

On a semi-related topic, I suppose, I have been reaping the giggles of spoof comedy on youtube. I found this last week. Moulin Rouge spoofs seem to fit the occasion, at least in my mind. I think this is hilarious. Pay special attention to the reveal at 1:42….

Hee. Hee.
