sunday style – dandy-cried-the-day-the-cricus-came-to-town edition

As the title might imply, the week’s Sunday Style comes to you from Friday evening and the Czar Bar as Dr. Sketchy’s presented a special circus-inspired evening.

It seems to me that I am developing my own take on the little black dress. No. Not drag, but a reinterpretation. I have developed a basic under-set of clothes that work well to express many different moments. As seen here, it includes: my Brooks Brothers grey wool trousers, the cream stripe-on-stripe French cuff dress shirt, and my black silk Bill Blass tuxedo vest. They make a great starting point.

The weather warmed just enough. I have been sitting on this brilliant rally coat for a long while. It fits me perfectly, sleeves and all! I wish to find more information on it, as it may well be vintage, which I find odd considering my size… The scarf is one of many silly-ish ones that I have been collecting on various DAV trips. They are mostly women’s scarves, most intended to be hacked up for pocket squares, but every so often I feel inspired for such a detail. As frilly as it may be, I love the look it gives to the over outfit. Part day at the races, part Isadora Duncan. *eg*

I keep debating whether or not I should pair up entire outfits as done deals… kumazuki and mark_monroe  can both attest to the infinite second-guessing I have taken to these days. I just don’t feel like taking away the Garanimal-like quality of much of my wardrobe. Either way, I should continue whittling away at it…

I almost felt distinguished Friday evening, but we all know better, don’t we…?
