sunday style – what to wear to a big gay wedding edition

detail - lapel, vest, tie and my mug

Please pardon the format. I have posted from three different computers since arriving in Louisville and each one has reacted to my standard settings on LJ… Bah. Back home tomorrow.

Beyond, today was incredible. The food, the house, the happy couple, the food, the desserts, the food that was desserts…

OMGs! Did I mention the food…? Photos of the event when I get back to KCMO.

I cannot seem to get my gallery pages to let me link to the images to insert them in a post, as I said…
so here is the link to the gallery. Perhaps, I will fix it upon my return.

The sport coat is wool/silk/linen blend by Jos. A. Bank. The linen content is only twelve percent, but – oh boy! – it makes itself known! I love the jacket. It is soft to the touch, comfortable and warm enough for the lightweight, but it needs a touch of steam between each wearing. The vest is linen by DKNY. This I don’t mind, without sleeves or pantlegs, linen doesn’t wrinkle much. LOL

For a pasty Irishman that is terrified of wearing ed, I have many deep red to burgundy ties these days. They often offer a perfect contrast. This weekend was no exception. I gave my sister the choice of ties; one with monochromatic leanings for the rest of the assemble and the one pictured. Hint: that sister will always go for the red. I didn’t mind. The tie is silk by Calvin Klein, just recently brought home from the DAV Thrift.

I do wish the shirt didn’t have a buttoned collar. I miss the chance to use ornamentation, but I love the pale chartreuse color. The trousers were the trusty Brooks Brothers dark grey wool trousers, with braces. The shoes, a great clunky style which suits me well, as Sears Diehard steel-toe shoes of all things. I love them; a bit goth perhaps, comfortable and just cool enough in their mass and line.

Outside of my family, most of the guests that I have met previously haven’t seen me since most of my weight loss. For the new readers, that would be sixty pounds over almost four years. The compliments flowed freely. So much of the crowd looked smashing. Those photos coming soon, as well.

I’ve decided to make this week a special week-long Sunday Style segment, featuring the craziness of Dr. Sketchy’s.

Stay tuned!
