So, David called me yesterday…
First time he has contact me since I moved out last April. I was surprised. He wanted to get together to sort through christmas stuff so he could figure out what he could still use and what would be going away. Fair enough.
I did my best to not put expectations to the impending event, although dread kept sneaking into my brain. I stopped over, we wondered around so he could show me the start of his holiday ideas. He found some great deals on decorations that really look great in his house. At one point, he mentioned “I really was paying attention to what you were doing… I was learning how to put things together.” And he really was, I was impressed, he has some great ideas and materials that really featured his furniture and the colors of the house.
He had made some wheat bread that was baking while we sorted through some boxes to split. We shared a pot of green tea. It was nice. Nicer than any exchange I thought we would have in the future.
I wanted to just let him use whatever stuff he wanted, since I am very unlikely to use any of it this year. He didn’t like the idea, which I could understand, he wanted to start building special looks and collections of decorations for different parts of the house and didn’t want to be misled from too many options of thing that would soon disappear…
In all, an incredibly nice evening.
We might just be okay after all.
