The Newest Epiphany

Last night, I was sent home from work after only a half – due to the binder shutting down pretty hard. This left me with extra time on my hands. With luck a certain LJer was awake through the night on the other coast who happens to have a current fascination with my tarot project. That and great intelligence and vocabulary.

So with help from <izakthetwisted> I think I have managed to hammer out the four suits and the terms for the court cards in my deck…

I have been bouncing around so many suit sets, mostly only ever getting three good ones. So I went back to the source, meaning the suits are indicative of the four physical elements. I had retraced that line before to attempt to establish the four elements of leathersex of a leather lifestyle as it were. Again only three sound suits with a weak forth.

Once more I returned to the elements. then it hit. For years now, I have perceived life as a combination of events that can be broken down into five different spheres of influence, which I corresponded to the five elements (the four physical ones plus ether/energy). These spheres are mentality, emotionality, physicality, sexuality and spirituality. Could it really be that simple? I figured I could use them as a working set… move ahead with the concepts and layouts of the minor cards and let a final set develop as I went. They are solid and distinct and have proven their functionality over the years. The biggest difficulty is that I have no easy symbols for them, which can play an important role in cards such as the Magician. This is minor to the development of the deck as a whole. I can always defer back the the triangular elemental symbols of Alchemy. They are basic, graphic and can been clearly distinguished from each other.

Back to the suits. Those words as mentioned above were a bit too snooty. Awkward in the verbiage of the deck. So I batted around a set of ‘common’ terms. Mind, Mood, Body and Desire. izak was pivotal in that last one. I think this will work, I have already managed to fit these terms to the names of the court cards, and placed a good handful of folks in my life into appropriate positions in the court cards.

The Court cards have also manifested. Master, Consort, Keeper and Ward. The complete phrases would be as follows: The Master of the Mind, The Consort of the Desire, The Keeper of the Mood, The Ward of the Body, and so on…

They work far better than anything else I developed over the past few years…
I am quite happy and content at the moment.

Now, to gather people and events from my life to fit into 78 card images. They need to fit into non-real forms, such as satyrs and fey beasts and other fantastical thingies. I want the deck laden with my sexual exploits of course! This is going to be grand!
